A drowning incident in the Narayani River at Gaidakot-2 in Nawalpur district has left one minor missing, while another child was rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
According to Inspector Laxman Giri of the Area Police Office Gaidakot, two children had gone to the river to swim on Tuesday when the incident unfolded. Police said one of the children managed to be pulled out of the water, but the other could not be found immediately.
The identity of the missing child has not yet been disclosed. Authorities have launched a search operation along the river area in an effort to locate the child.
The Narayani River has seen multiple drowning incidents in recent years, including cases in Gaindakot where children and adults have lost their lives or gone missing in the water. Local officials and rescue teams have repeatedly responded to such emergencies, highlighting the danger posed by strong currents and deep water in the river.
Police have not released further details on the condition of the rescued child, but the person was taken for medical care soon after the incident.
