A major fire broke out at the Jhapa Energy Plant in Phulchowk, Shivasataksi Municipality-4, on Monday afternoon, sending firefighters, police, and local residents into an urgent response effort. The blaze destroyed machinery and infrastructure at the facility, according to local authorities.

Khagendra Bahadur Khadka, spokesperson for the District Police Office Jhapa, confirmed that the fire caused significant damage to the plant’s physical assets. The plant is owned by Lal Prasad Sanwa, a 50-year-old resident of Dudhe.

Firefighting teams from Shivasataksi Municipality and Kamal Rural Municipality were deployed to the scene, working alongside police personnel and nearby residents to bring the flames under control. The coordinated response highlights how quickly local emergency networks can mobilize when industrial sites are threatened.
