Free Uterine Prolapse Surgeries Bring Relief to 15 Women in Sankhuwasabha
A free surgical camp at Sankhuwasabha District Hospital helped 15 underprivileged women from Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur receive treatment for uterine prolapse.
A free surgical camp at Sankhuwasabha District Hospital has given much-needed relief to 15 underprivileged women suffering from uterine prolapse, with surgeries carried out from June 1 to June 4.
The patients came from Sankhuwasabha and Bhojpur districts, according to the hospital report. The initiative was designed to support women who could not afford treatment because of financial constraints.
Why the camp matters
Uterine prolapse is a serious health condition that can cause pain, discomfort, and major disruptions to daily life. By offering surgery at no cost, the hospital helped remove one of the biggest barriers to care: affordability.
Dr. Santosh Dev, the Medical Superintendent of Sankhuwasabha District Hospital, said the camp was organized specifically to serve women who were unable to access treatment due to limited resources.
Support for underserved communities
The camp highlights the role of local hospitals in reaching patients in remote and economically challenged areas. For many families in the region, specialized surgery is often out of reach, making free treatment programs especially important.
Health camps like this also help draw attention to women’s reproductive health issues that are often overlooked until they become severe.
A small camp with a large impact
While the number of beneficiaries was limited, the impact on each patient was significant. For the women who received surgery, the camp offered not just medical treatment but also the chance to regain comfort, mobility, and quality of life.
Local health officials and hospital staff have framed the effort as part of a broader push to make essential care more accessible to vulnerable communities.
