Lumbini Province Police Dominates Nepal as Top Provincial Force for Second Consecutive Month
Lumbini Province Police secures the first position among all provincial police offices in Nepal for the second month, earning top honors under DIG Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri amid national performance evaluations.
Lumbini Province Police has once again claimed the top position among all provincial police offices in Nepal, maintaining its leading rank for the second consecutive month. This achievement was confirmed by the performance evaluation report for Jestha (FY 2082/83), released by Nepal Police Headquarters, which highlighted the office's consistent excellence after also placing first in Baisakh.
Under the leadership of Deputy Inspector General Bhupendra Bahadur Khatri, the Lumbini Province Police Office has demonstrated exceptional operational efficiency, community engagement, and strategic innovation. DIG Khatri personally presented the award, underscoring the significance of this recognition within the national police framework.
This success stands out against broader challenges facing Nepal Police, including low morale, irregular duty schedules, and inadequate leave among lower-ranking personnel. Despite these systemic issues, Lumbini Province has managed to set a benchmark for performance, proving that strong leadership and targeted reforms can yield measurable results.
The office is also pioneering public-sector innovation by organizing Nepal’s first government-level hackathon, aimed at strengthening public safety through technology. This initiative, held at the Police Training Centre in Butwal, Rupandehi, reflects Lumbini’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to modernizing law enforcement.
As Nepal Police continues to expand its duties beyond traditional law enforcement-including VIP protection, disaster management, and intelligence collection-Lumbini Province’s consistent top ranking serves as a model for other provincial offices striving to improve service delivery and citizen trust.
