Missing 76-Year-Old Purna Chhantyal Found Dead in Myagdi Community Forest
Police in Myagdi say the body of 76-year-old Purna Chhantyal, missing for about six weeks, was found in a community forest in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality.
The body of 76-year-old Purna Chhantyal, who had been missing for around one and a half months, was discovered in a community forest in Myagdi, according to local police reports.
Chhantyal had gone missing from his home in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-1, Gurja, on April 15. His body was later found in the Parvati Aama Samuha Community Forest in Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality-3, Muna.
Family members identified the deceased by his clothing, and police said the body was handed over to relatives after the necessary investigation.
The case has drawn attention in the local community because of the long gap between Chhantyal's disappearance and the discovery of his body. Authorities have not publicly detailed the circumstances of death, and the investigation remains a key part of the case.
This incident also highlights the challenges of search efforts in remote hill regions, where difficult terrain and scattered settlements can complicate response times and recovery operations.
