In a major move to protect migrant workers and restore integrity to Nepal's foreign employment sector, the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment has officially launched 'Operation Illegal Agent Clean-Up'. The initiative targets the widespread network of unauthorized middlemen who exploit job seekers, often charging excessive fees and providing false promises.

Labour Minister Ramjee Yadav announced the operation during a virtual interaction with employment coordinators and migration resource centers. Alongside the crackdown, the ministry introduced a new program to decentralize labor permit facilitation across all 753 local levels in the country. This shift aims to bring services closer to citizens, ensuring that migrant workers can access hassle-free support without relying on risky intermediaries.

The reforms are designed to eliminate irregularities in the foreign employment system and empower local governments to manage labor permits directly. By removing the barriers created by illegal agents, the government hopes to create a transparent, efficient, and safe pathway for thousands of Nepalis seeking jobs abroad.

This announcement marks a significant step in Nepal's broader effort to combat corruption and prioritize youth welfare in the global labor market. With the operation now underway, authorities are expected to intensify enforcement actions against unauthorized agents while expanding access to legitimate employment channels.
