Sudurpaschim’s Growth Push: Nazir Miya Calls for Local-Provincial Cooperation

Sudurpaschim Province Chief Nazir Miya is putting intergovernmental cooperation at the center of the region’s development agenda, arguing that local and provincial authorities must work together to turn the province’s natural advantages into real economic gains.

Speaking at a program in Dhangadhi, Miya said Sudurpaschim has major untapped potential in water resources, forests, and natural beauty. He stressed that these assets can only drive prosperity if public institutions act with a shared strategy and a common sense of purpose.

His message reflects a familiar but important challenge in Nepal’s federal system: development plans often depend on coordination across levels of government. Miya’s remarks suggest that Sudurpaschim’s future growth may hinge less on the existence of resources and more on how effectively those resources are managed, protected, and transformed into opportunity.
